# Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to common questions about joining studies, completing tasks, and getting paid. Follow the links in each answer for more detail.

## Account and verification

### Is Pulse Voices a full-time job?

No. Pulse Voices provides paid research participation, not employment. Studies offer occasional opportunities and you shouldn't treat them as a replacement for regular income.

### What do I need to participate?

You need an active email address and a device with a camera and microphone. Individual projects may require a specific computer, phone, browser, or other device. Check the project card before applying. See [Getting Started](/getting-started.md) and [Finding and Joining Projects](/finding-and-joining-projects.md).

### Why do I need to verify my identity?

Identity, device, and network checks help prevent duplicate or fraudulent accounts and keep research results trustworthy. Verification happens at the project level: depending on the study, you may be asked to complete a biometric face verification, government-ID verification through Persona, phone verification, or a location check. See [Screening and verification steps](/finding-and-joining-projects.md#screening-and-verification-steps).

### Can I complete ID verification outside the United States?

We do not limit government-ID verification to US participants. Pulse Labs accepts IDs from countries where it runs or has run studies, and we continue to expand availability. See [About ID verification](/finding-and-joining-projects.md#about-id-verification).

### Why is my ID verification pending or rejected?

**Pending** means the Pulse Labs team needs to review the submission manually. **Rejected** means an automatic or manual review found the ID ineligible or fraudulent; this is generally a final decision. Contact [Support](/messages-and-support.md) if you need help understanding your status.

## Face verification

### What is face verification?

A quick biometric face scan, completed with your camera, that confirms a human is operating your device and that you are a unique user not associated with another account. It keeps the panel trustworthy for research teams and protects your account from duplicates. See [About face verification](/finding-and-joining-projects.md#about-face-verification).

### When will I be asked to complete face verification?

When a project includes it as one of its screening and verification steps, you complete the face scan when you sign up for the project. On these projects you may also be required to re-verify your face with each submission you make, and the Pulse Labs team may occasionally ask you to re-verify at other times.

### Does face verification replace ID verification?

No. They are separate steps — face verification confirms a real, unique person is behind the account, while government-ID verification through Persona checks your identity document. Some projects require both.

### What if the face scan fails?

Check that your browser or device has granted camera access to the app — a blocked camera is the most common cause — then retry the scan. Good lighting and a plain background help. If you're still stuck, contact [Support](/messages-and-support.md).

### How is my face data handled?

See the [Pulse Labs Privacy Center](https://github.com/pulselabs-ai/Documentation/tree/main/privacy-center/README.md) for how we handle verification and biometric data.

## Finding and joining studies

### Where can I find studies?

Open **Explore** to browse available studies. Invitations from research teams appear in your **Inbox** and we also send them by email. See [Finding and Joining Projects](/finding-and-joining-projects.md).

### Where do I see what a study pays?

On the project card, before you apply. See [Finding and Joining Projects](/finding-and-joining-projects.md).

### Are screener surveys paid?

No. Screeners are short qualification steps, not paid study tasks. Compensation begins with the study itself after you're enrolled.

### Why did I complete a screener but not get into the study?

A screener invitation doesn't guarantee enrollment. Research teams select participants from the pool of people who qualify, and a project may fill before we can enroll every eligible person.

### How long will it take to hear back after a screener?

Timing varies by project. Some screeners and verification steps require manual review, so a delay may occur. You'll receive an email when your enrollment status changes.

### How many studies can I take?

There's normally no limit—apply to as many studies as you qualify for. The exception is an **exclusive study**: while enrolled, that may be the only study you can take.

### How can I qualify for more studies?

Complete your [profile](/profile-and-settings.md), keep your device and demographic information current, and answer screeners accurately. A complete profile gives research teams more ways to match you with suitable projects.

## Completing study tasks

### What kinds of tasks will I complete?

Projects may include surveys, recorded evaluations, live interviews, or documents to review and sign. Your tasks appear as action items under **In Progress**. See [Completing Study Tasks](/completing-study-tasks.md).

### What should I do if I may miss a deadline?

Email **<support@pulselabs.ai>** as early as possible and include the project name and deadline. If you submit late work, the team may not include it in the study and we may not compensate it.

### Are study materials confidential?

Yes. Don't share study content, screenshots, recordings, prototypes, or other details outside the platform. Confidentiality is part of the Terms and Conditions and panel agreement, and some projects also require a separate NDA.

### Why won't my evaluation start or submit?

Check that your browser can access your camera, microphone, and screen recording. Reload the page after changing permissions. Evaluations require audio, so the system may block a submission if you disable the microphone. See [If the recording won't start](/completing-study-tasks.md#if-the-recording-wont-start).

## Payments

### How am I paid?

Pulse Labs sends a **Tremendous reward link** to your account email address. Open the link to choose from the redemption options available in your region, which may include PayPal, gift cards, and other methods. You don't need to configure a payment account in Pulse Voices. See [Payments](/payments.md).

### Do I need a PayPal account?

No. PayPal may be one of the choices offered through Tremendous, but it isn't required. Available redemption options depend on your region.

### When will I be paid?

We normally send payments within three weeks after the study ends and our team reviews your data. The timing starts when the study wraps up, not when you submit your final task.

### Will I be paid for partially completed work?

Partial-completion rules are study-specific. Check the project details or email **<support@pulselabs.ai>** with the project name before assuming we will pay for a partial submission.

### What should I do if my payment is overdue?

Check your spam folder for an email from Tremendous and confirm that your account email is correct. If it has been more than three weeks since the study completed, email **<support@pulselabs.ai>** with the project name and the date you completed your work.

### Can I change where my payment goes?

Payments follow your account email. If you need help with a payment that was already sent, email **<support@pulselabs.ai>**.

## Support and privacy

### How do I get help?

Email **<support@pulselabs.ai>** for study questions, account or verification problems, technical issues, and payments. Include the project name, task, device information, and a screenshot when relevant. See [Support](/messages-and-support.md).

### How is my personal information handled?

See the [Pulse Labs Privacy Center](https://github.com/pulselabs-ai/Documentation/tree/main/privacy-center/README.md) for information about privacy and data handling.
